Political Discourse Olberman Style

Man, the leftist elites are flipping out. It must be hard waking up to the realization that democracy involves “the people” and not “you telling the riff-raff what they ought to do”. Congratulations to Scott Brown this morning but more importantly, congratulations to the people of Massachusetts who went to the polls in unprecedented numbers yesterday for a special election sending a message to incumbents across the land in both parties that they are vulnerable if they no longer represent their constituents. Democracy and liberty aren’t dead yet in the Republic.

  1. problem: to date, the democrats are ignoring this as an aberration created by a weak democratic candidate with a poorly run campaign, and the republicans are claiming it as a victory for their brand of politics. i fear nothing will be learned by either side.

  2. That is exactly right. If something doesn’t sink in on either side as to why this happened, we’re in worse trouble than I thought. Of course, if this only happens once, that’s more likely and would be indicative of this not being as historic as I think it is. However, I think the 2010 elections are gonna be fun to watch as the two established parties find out what real voter anger means.

That of course is contingent on shit hitting the fan again this year economically which I think will happen around April. We’ll see.
