We have one of these guys visiting our backyard bird feeder on a regular basis now and he’s fun to watch. He scatters all the sparrows when he comes in, looping in a lazy kind of flight. He tends to get one seed as far as I can tell and then fly back to the trees on the creek to pop it open. Then he comes in again. Seems to me that he’d be spending more energy than he’s consuming but it’s fun to watch him.
We also have a variety of other birds, goldfinches, house finches, cardinals, mourning doves, and Carolina Chickadees to name a few that I’ve identified. I can’t wait until we have more trees and bushes around the house to attract them in closer.
